Some Christmas Baking

Hello Friends,

I thought I'd share what I was doing today.

These are just delicious! I probably gained about 5 pounds today!

I found this recipe on Our Best Bites blog.  Yep I admit it. I don't only follow papercrafting blogs! These girls have great holiday recipes as well as other things to make for your family.

Here's the cookie recipe:

Candy Cane Kiss Cookies

Recipe by Our Best Bites

1/2 c. butter-flavored shortening
1/2 c. real butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
optional: 1 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. flour, lightly spooned into measuring cups and leveled with a knife
1/4 c. + 2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 c. dark chocolate chips
48 Hershey's Candy Cane Kisses, unwrapped
Preheat oven to 350.
Cream together softened butter, shortening, brown sugar, and white sugar for 1-2 minutes on medium-high speed or until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla. Meanwhile, combine the baking powder, baking soda, salt, flour, and cocoa powder. Add to the butter/sugar mixture and mix until combined. Mix in the chocolate chips.
Drop the dough by the tablespoonful onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the centers are set but still soft. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 1-2 minutes. Top each cookie with an unwrapped Candy Cane Kiss. Allow to cool completely, long enough for the Kiss to harden. If necessary, after the cookies have cooled, they can be placed in the refrigerator or freezer to re-solidify the Kiss.

Enjoy Friends!

Christmas Card Blog Hop

Hello! Welcome to the Christmas Card Blog Hop! This is my first hop and I am very excited that you came for a visit. Thank you, Jen, for inviting me. If you came here from Karen’s blog The Busy Bug then you are in the right place. If you would like to start the hop from the beginning then just click HERE.

I have two cards that I would like to share with you today. The first card is made with a cute little mouse stamp that I picked up at Hobby Lobby. These mice are just too cute! It is a Stampabilities House Mouse stamp called "Cuddly and Warm."
Here is a close up to see the sparkle.
I used Prisma Colored Pencils and odorless Mineral Spirits to color in my little mouse scene. I used Accent Essentials for the marquee shape. The Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder was used for the background. Stardust Stickles for a little sparkle on the snow and the hats. Added some ribbon and snowflake brad to finish off this card. The sentiment if from Scrappy Moms Winter Wishes set.

My next card is made from Winter Frolic Cricut cartridge. The sentiment is also from Scrappy Moms Winter Wishes and it is what inspired this card.
Here is a close up to see the sparkle. :)
I used Winter Frolic for the tree and Create A Critter for the hearts. The background paper is from K&Company Pepermint Twist Stack. I trimmed the star from the tree and added a heart button threaded with some embroidery floss. A white gelly roll pen was used for stitching. The tree was embossed with the Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls embossing folder. I added Christmas Red Stickles to the hearts and Cotton Candy Stickles to the ornaments. This was a simple card but I really like how it came out.

Now just for hopping to my blog you are going to get a chance win this collection of scrappy supplies.

All you have to do to win these goodies is to leave a comment on this post with a way to contact you. I would love for you to become a follower but it is not necessary to win these goodies. I will choose a winner on Sunday, December 5th.

After you leave your comment you are going to want to hop on over to Celeste’s blog CCs Cards. You don’t want to miss what she has for you today. And, if you got lost and want to get back on track here is the whole list of blogs participating in the Christmas Card Blog Hop:
