It's time for another Challenge Me Monday over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. Today's Challenge Me Monday #45 is Support the Cause ~ Make a project in honor of a cause near and dear to you or a loved one's heart (i.e. breast cancer awareness, autism, MADD, etc.).
The cause I chose is very near and dear to my heart as it has touched me in a tremendous way. On November 4, 2001, my mom died from a massive heart attack at the age of 54. There were no visible signs that she was ill and it took our family completely by surprise. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women. I decided to make a post card as a reminder for National Wear Red Day.
Here is what I used:
Cricut Cartridges ~ Forever Young, dress ~ Nate's ABCs, red lettering ~ A Child's Year, base
Lettering is computer generated
Ribbon ~ Hobby Lobby
Paper Studio Punch
ATG and Zig 2 way glue
This is a picture of my mom and dad. This was taken at my sister's wedding. My father passed away 3 years after my mom from complications due to ALS ~ Lou Gehrig's disease. I miss them both dearly.
I urge all women to visit Go Red For Women and get educated about heart disease. On February 4th, please wear red to support this important cause. I will be wearing red in honor of my mother.
If you would like more information about ALS you can visit The ALS Association.
Make sure to visit FCCB and see all the other great causes that my fellow design team members support.
Happy Crafting!

Your postcard is absolutely GORGEOUS! I'm so sorry to hear that both your mom and dad were taken from you at such an early age. Lots of love- Glora
very pretty card
Saundra - What a lovely, lovely card. Your story brought tears to my eyes. I'm so sorry to read about your losses. I have heard of red dress day - but did not know the date. I will be wearing red on Friday now.
This is just beautiful!! I will be
wearing red on Friday. :)
I just love this! Awesome job! I am so sorry to read about your Mom. It's so hard to lose a parent, but to lose one at such a young age is really tough. I lost my Dad 4 years ago next month and I know how much it continues to hurt. Will be wearing my red on Friday!

Nice project, great cause!
Saundra, what a touching story. I am so sad for your loss and I understand. I lost my Dad to colon cancer 10 years ago but you never forget that feeling of loss. I was diagnosed with coronary heart disease in 2006 and had two stents put in - I was only 45! A year later I had open heart surgery! So you can never be too young! I too will be wearing red for all of us!
